Sign on Failed - Poor GPRS Signal

This article will explain:

  • How to troubleshoot a failed sign on, on a Tyro terminal

When an Xentissimo or Xenta terminal is using a Telstra GPRS sim card and the connection becomes weak or unstable, it will display an error message 'Sign on failed - Poor GPRS Signal'. To troubleshoot this issue:

  1. Reboot will resolve the problem (How do I Reboot My Tyro Machine?)
  2. Visit the Telstra Service Status website and enter your postcode. If there are any issues in the area they will be outside of Tyro's control.
  3. If you have a working WIFI connection follow the How do I setup WiFi network on my Terminal? procedure. Please be aware that as of December 2016 Telstra will be removing their GPRS network. If you do not have a WiFi network please contact Customer Support on 1300 966 639 for further assistance.
