Why do we need backups?

It's the hope that you'll never actually need your backups, but they're there to give you peace of mind in case the worst actually happens.

OrderMate has a few backup processes in place, and a recovery plan for you in the event that we do need to go into recovery mode.

Backup Schedules and Location

POS database backups are done on a daily basis, the backup time is 4am by default, but this can be configured to a different time by our team. If you do need this changed, please reach out to help@ordermate.com.au.

The daily backup script will automatically:

Daily

These backups will store for 1 week before being overridden with newer backups.

  1. Backup the POS database onto the local hard disk. (This is located in C:\Backup)
  2. Copy that daily backup to an attached USB stick. (This is located in D:\Backup)
  3. If available, copy that backup also onto the next POS terminal on the network.
This will be located in \\WMT1\c$\Backup)

Weekly

Once a week, the latest of your daily database backups is uploaded to our secure FTP server for off-site disaster recovery. These backups are held for 3 months before being overridden, as long as you're subscribed to a care plan.
