Here's how to apply a discount in WaiterMate
Pre-set discounts can be set up in OfficeMate for use in WaiterMate. They will be displayed as buttons on the discount screen.
Some of the benefits of doing this are:
- It will allow you to report by each discount separately
- You can privilege certain discounts to make them available to different POS users
How to create a discount in OfficeMate
1. Navigate to the discount screen in OfficeMate
2. Choose to create a ‘Dollar’ amount or ‘Percentage’ amount discount from the drop down menu as shown.
3. Choose the ‘New’ icon to create the discount. Each discount will then be displayed on its own line and can be edited from this screen by clicking on the desired field to edit.
What are the different options for discounts I can use?
You can customise your discount with the following options.
Option | Explanation |
---|---|
Label |
Name the discount in the 'Label' field. This will be displayed on the discount button and on the tax invoice. Each discount will then be reported separately by each of the discount names. |
Percentage/Dollar Amount |
Enter the desired amount for the discount. |
Cap Amount (Percentage discounts only) |
A dollar cap amount can be set on percentage discounts so the discount applied will not go over this amount. Useful for discount coupons where customer can receive a 50% discount but only up to the value of $40 for example |
Level |
Discounts can be made available for use on an 'Item Level' only, for 'Account Level' only or for both instances by setting the level to 'All'. |
Trigger Activation Strategy |
If multiple triggers have been allocated to this discount, the ‘Trigger Activation Strategy’ determines if all of these triggers or just any one of them make this discount applicable. |
Triggers |
Setting a trigger to the discount will allow the discount to be only active under conditions of the trigger (See ‘Setting up Triggers’). |
Automatic |
A discount can be set to 'Automatic' under the trigger conditions by simply ticking the box. (Be careful not to choose this if the only trigger attached is the ‘Default’ trigger. This would mean that this discount would be permanently active.) |
Displayable |
By ticking the 'Displayable' box, this discount will show on the Tax Invoice. |
Open Price |
By ticking 'Open Price', the user can enter the discount amount when this discount is selected. |
Sequence |
Changing the 'Sequence' number of the discount will determine the display order of the discount on the WaiterMate screen. |
Show Colours |
It is possible to colour the discount buttons on the WaiterMate screen by ticking the ‘Show Colours’ box and then selecting the desired colour. |
