Modifying your Menu Items?
There are many reasons why an item may need to be altered and there are many ways in which this can be done. Often it is easier to configure this in OfficeMate so that the user is guided through menu choices or has the ability to change things about a dish without requiring the authority of the higher privilege level.
Step 1 - Searching for Items in OfficeMate
1. Navigate to the ‘Items’ screen in the navigation panel.
2. Select from the fields shown below and select from the desired drop-down menu to refine the information on this screen.
Step 2 - Modifications for Menu items
1. Check box on the right hand side of the screen, tick ‘Show Extended View’.
Additional columns will now be displayed and can be edited by selecting each field.
Use the scroll bar from the bottom of the screen to find the additional columns shown below. (Not displayed in actual order).
Short Name |
Anything typed into this field will replace the ‘Name’ on the prep dockets. |
Minuses |
When this field is selected, a box will be displayed so that any removable items can be entered for this item. Minuses can then be found in the modifier screen in WaiterMate. If a price is set against any minuses, the item will be reduced by this amount. |
System State |
By selecting from the drop down menu, this item can be hidden from the WaiterMate screen. |
Recipe |
When this field is selected, a box will be displayed so that a recipe can be manually added. The recipe can later be found in the modifier screen in WaiterMate and printed if there is a printer attached. |
Choose the desired plus group from the drop down list. Each item can only be attached to one group. (See Creating Pluses for further information) Plus groups can then be found in the modifier screen in WaiterMate. |

Default Adds |
If a plus group has been attached, any of the items within this plus group can be set as a default add. The user will not need to select it, however it can be changed from the modifier screen. |
When this field is selected, a box will display all of the option groups available. As many option groups as is required can be added to this item. Option groups will automatically pop up when this item is ordered. |

Default Options |
If an option group has been attached, any of the items within this group can be set as a default option/s. The user will not need to select it, however it can be changed from the modifier screen. |
Open Price |
If open price is selected, when the item is ordered in WaiterMate a keypad will be displayed and the user will be required to manually enter the price for this item. |
Auto Item Note |
If auto item note is selected, when the item is ordered in WaiterMate a keyboard will be displayed so the user can add a note that will be printed on the prep docket for this item. |
Icon |
If you wish to display an image rather than text, you can paste the file path here and it will display on WaiterMate |
Step 3 - Downloading changes to WaiterMate
Once changes have been made and saved in OfficeMate they will require to be downloaded to WaiterMate.
From the toolbar at the top of the screen, select the ‘Save’ icon.
To manually download menu changes:
1. Log in to WaiterMate.
2. Choose ‘System Admin’ from the bottom right hand side of any screen.
3. Select the ‘System’ tab from the top of the screen.
4. Select ‘Download Menu’.
Alternatively:
Menu changes will automatically be downloaded to WaiterMate whenever a user logs out of the ordering screen.
