Menu items can be configured so that when ordered they can be made up using a fraction or 'Portion' of other items within the same menu section. Portions are most commonly used in pizza restaurants in the form of Half-Half or Quarter pizza's.
Step 1 - Searching for Items in OfficeMate
Navigate to the ‘Items’ screen in the navigation panel.
From the item screen, all menu items that have previously been created will be displayed. Select from the fields shown below and select from the desired drop down menu to refine the information on this screen for example, search by one menu section at a time. This often makes it easier to edit new menu items or to find an existing menu item that needs to be edited.
Step 2 - Adding Portions for Menu Items
For menu items that are sold in multiple portions i.e. half and half pizzas, they will need to be created as separate items for each portion as well as each size. Repeat all of the above steps to create the items and then set the portions. By default, portions will be set to Whole.
Begin by making the items once for each size and then another for each portion of each size. Do not save after making the items because they should still be identical and the system will delete the double ups.
From the check box on the right hand side of the screen, tick ‘Show Portion’.
An additional column will now be displayed and can be edited by selecting in the field.
Choose from the drop down menu to set which portion the item is to be available in as shown below.
It is now OK to save these items.
From the WaiterMate ordering screen, this item will be displayed as one button.
Once this item has been ordered, the user will be prompted to choose the portion from the sizes screen.
By default the item will be selected as a Whole
If changed to another portion, the user will be prompted with a screen containing any other items from the same menu section that are also available in this size and portion.
Step 3 - Downloading changes to WaiterMate
Once changes have been made and saved in OfficeMate they will require to be downloaded to Waitermate.
From the toolbar at the top of the screen, select the ‘Save’ icon.
To manually download menu changes;
1. Log in to WaiterMate.
2. Choose ‘System Admin’ from the bottom right hand side of any screen.
3. Select the ‘System’ tab from the top of the screen.
4. Select ‘Download Menu’.
Menu changes will automatically be downloaded to WaiterMate whenever a user logs out of the ordering screen.
Menu changes will also automatically be downloaded when WaiterMate restarts. This usually happens every night and does not require a manual restart.
