Summary
‘Option Groups’ are used to provide the user with an automatic screen to be displayed when selecting the menu item which it is attached to. The options within these groups can be set with a minimum and maximum quantity allowed. Options can be used to guide users through menu selections or to make the ordering process faster for menu items that are often altered. Individual options can be created with an additional charge to the menu item if this is required.
Step 1 - Creating the Option Group
Begin by logging into OfficeMate
Navigate to the ‘Options’ screen in the navigation Panel
Select the ‘New Group’ icon located on the tool bar at the top right of the screen
The details of the ‘Option Group’ will be visible as shown below
Step 2: Editing the Option Group
Label: Name the option group so it can be easily identified when attaching to menu items and also when searching the option reports.
Size: Multiple sized option groups may be required for multiple sized menu items.
Printable: Select if these options are required to print on the prep docket.
Sequence: Option groups can be given a numerical sequenced to override the alphabetical order.
Triggers: Attach or remove any triggers required to activate this option group by selecting ‘Add’ or ‘Remove’ (see creating triggers).
Activation Strategy: If multiple triggers are attached, choose if ‘All Triggers’ or ‘Any Triggers’ are required to activate this option group.
Default Option: Once the options have been created, any of the options can be set as the default so that if another option is not chosen, it will be automatically selected.
Copy Options From: Options within this group can be copied from an existing group.
To save the changes select ‘OK’.
To forget changes select ‘Cancel’.
Step 3: Adding the Options to the Group
To create new options within the option group, click on the "New Option" icon located on the toolbar at the top left of the screen.
Once the option has been created, it can be seen as below and will require to be edited.
Name: This will print on the prep docket and Tax Invoice
Price: Add a price if this option attracts an additional charge to the menu item
Sequence: Options can be given a numerical sequence to override the alphabetical order of their display in WaiterMate
Background Colour: Select the colour of the BUTTON in WaiterMate
Foreground Colour: Select the colour of the FONT in WaiterMate
Option Group: This option can be moved to an alternative option group if required
Reduced Factor: The percentage the item will be discounted by if a reduced zone is set within in the item screen. If this is set to be 0% then this item will always be charge at the full price set for the option.
Repeat the above steps until all of the options have been edited to this group.
Once all of the options have been added, select ‘Save’ from the toolbar at the top of the screen.
Step 4: Attaching the Option Group to the Menu Item
Navigate to the ‘Items’ screen in OfficeMate (see ‘Creating Menu Items’)
Select the menu item to attach the option group to.
Click the tick box ‘Show Extended View’ from the top right of the screen to make more columns visible
From the bottom of the screen, scroll across to the right and click on the ‘Option group’ field as shown.
Choose the option group that is to be added to this item.
Once the option group has been selected, the details can be edited as shown below. These details will determine how this option group will behave once ordered.
Option Group - The option group name is displayed
Sequence - Determines the order in which the option screen is prompted if there are multiple option groups attached to the same menu item.
Min Qty - The minimum amount of options that the user must select from this option group.
Max Qty - The maximum amount of options that the user can select from this option group.
Reduced Zone - How many of the items will be charged at the reduced factor (% Discount) before the full option price will be charged. If this is set to be 'Zero' then any options ordered will be charged at the full price as set in the option group.
Select 'Ok' to confirm this screen.
From the item screen, select the ‘Save’ icon.
